4 Daily Habits for Healthier Hair

Ok, let’s get to it right off the bat… I know what you’re thinking. How do I have time for one (well four) more things in my routine? Between the supplements, stretches, skincare—the list goes on and on—but I promise these are attainable.
Don’t Skip Product on Non-Wash Days
Your hair needs moisture every day, not just on wash days. Most leave-in creams, oils, and aerosol heat protectants can be used on both wet and dry hair. Apply these daily.
Detangle Hair from the Bottom, Up
When you start brushing at your roots, this packs any tangles tighter and results in more breakage. Set your detangling up for success with tools and products a pro would use and know what to grab wet vs dry.
Practice Good Scalp Hygiene
Over and under washing are both unhealthy habits for your scalp—and hair health starts at the root! Quite literally. Every scalp is different but if you can learn when too many “hat days” is too many, you’re on the right track!
The sweet spot for going between washes typically ranges within 3-5 days, depending on many factors, including lifestyle.
If you’re hitting the gym every day (first, tell me your secret to how you do it all) then cool shot those sweaty roots with your blowdryer to avoid build up and potential follicle blockage.
Add (gentle, tug-free) massaging of your scalp to your am or pm routine. This stimulates bloodflow, promoting cell turnover and hair growth. I rotate between a comb or scalp scrubber and my hands, to not transfer oil from my fingers daily.
Switch It Up
Instead of reaching for the hot tool daily, try different styles that don’t require (or limit) heat.
Need ideas? Slick-back buns or ponies, claw clips, heatless waves, and ball caps or trucker hats are all trend-approved right now!
Start adding these to your routine and it will so be worth it! Not sure which tools and products are best to incorporate? Comment, message, or ask us at your next appointment. We’re happy to help!
